The LaPorte Slicers finished 4th at the Girls Swimming and Diving Sectional in Valparaiso. The Slicers were led in points by Freshmen Noor Hakim and Cali Hatala. Hakim finished with 22 individual points, and Hatala finished with 21. Hakim finished 8th in both the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Breaststroke. Hatala finished 7th in the 200 Individual Medley, and 9th in the 500 Freestyle with a lifetime PR of 5:41.98. The Slicers had PRs in almost every swim today. LaPorte opened the meet with a 3rd place finish in the 200 Medley Relay behind: Abigail Burger (backstroke), Hatala (breaststroke), Hakim (butterfly), and Lily Siford (freestyle). Their time of 1:59.33 was a season best for them. Any time a Medley Relay breaks the 2 minute barrier, it's a great race. Every Slicer PR'd in their splits. Regan Hughes and Abigail Burger finished 11th and 12th respectively in the 200 Freestyle, with season best times for both. Hughes also finished 12th in the 500 Freestyle, breaking the 6 minute barrier for the first time this season, after returning from injury. Carmen Eguizabal finished 16th in both the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Breaststroke. . Lily Siford finished 10th in the 50 Freestyle, and 9th in the 100 Freestyle. Lyla Bannwart finished 13th in the 100 Butterfly. The 200 Freestyle Relay of: Burger, Liz Luna, Katelyn Peterson, and Hughes finished 7th with a season best time of 1:54.69. Burger also finished 10th in the 100 Backstroke with a lifetime PR of 1:10.64. Sofia LaRocco finished 16th, also with a lifetime PR. The Slicers finished the meet with a 4th place finish in the 400 Freestyle Relay behind: Hatala, Siford, Peterson, and Hakim. Their time of 4:03.10 beat their previous season best time of 4:06.31, which they set during Thursday's prelims. It's been a fantastic season for this young team. They have overcome illness, injury and adversity to emerge as an up and coming team. Congratulations to all of our swimmers and divers. The Coaches and I couldn't be prouder of their accomplishments. Always proud. Go Slicers! Coach Brahim
