After crushing the LaPorte High School record in prelims, the Slicers 200 Medley Relay team of: Jakob Schroeder, Abbas Hakim, Otto Wildhart, and Chaise Adrian finished 10th at the Indiana High School Championship Meet. The Field of teams swimming at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis was incredibly fast. Carmel High School was the overall winner. LaPorte finished 25th overall, tied with Chesterton. Abbas Hakim made it to finals in both the relay and 100 Breaststroke. Hakim finished 14th in the breast after qualifying 11th on Friday. Hakim's swim on Friday was just .08 seconds off the school record he set last year. Jakob Schroeder finished 17th in the 100 Backstroke. The 400 Freestyle Relay of: Schroeder, Adrian, Gavin Crail, and Hakim finished 20th. The 200 Freestyle Relay of: Crail, Roman Garay, Allen Fuller, and Wildhart finished 25th. These young men have worked so hard all season, and finishing in the top 10 at State is a great way to end the season. Elite swimmers rarely take time off, and most of our boys will be back in the pool Monday, training with their club team, the LaPorte Turbos. Hakim, Schroeder, Crail, Wildhart, and Adrian have all qualified for the Central Zone Speedo Sectional Championship meet in March. Always proud. Go Slicers! Coach Brahim
