La Porte Varsity Softball defeated Michigan City on Tuesday at La Porte Softball Complex, 16-2. La Porte flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring five runs on six hits to take a 5-1 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to left field by Jersey Worthington that drove in two. Madi Squire hit a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the second for the La Porte. La Porte scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the third inning. Mia Maxel, Worthington, Reagan Willoughby, Paige White all singled in the inning and Allie Wiencek doubled. La Porte scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Lauren Poe, White, and Lexi Surowiec each singled in the inning. A Solid effort in the circle from Marcy Bearickx and Mia Maxel helped secure the win for La Porte. Bearickx stepped in the circle first for La Porte. The left-handed pitcher surrendered just one hit over two innings, striking out three. Maxel surrendered just three hits over three innings, striking out seven. La Porte tallied 15 hits in the game. Worthington led La Porte Varsity with three runs batted in.
