The Slicers traveled to Wheeler High School tonight and defeated the Bearcats 143-34, and the Boone Grove Wolves 145-10 in a double dual meet. Along the way, LaPorte broke two Wheeler Pool records, the 200 Medley Relay, and the 100 Breaststroke. Our boys saw the record board, and said they needed to break the medley relay record because it was held by our LaPorte boys from several years ago. The Medley Relay team of Roman Garay (backstroke), Abbas Hakim (breaststroke), Otto Wildhart (butterfly, and Andrew Hayes (freestyle), won the event, and broke the previous record held by former LaPorte speedsters Ben Klimczak, Isaac Temores, Justin Dusza and Jacob Cooper. Swimming some off events, and a bit out of their comfort zone, the Slicers still dominated the meet. Abbas Hakim won the 200 Freestyle, and then broke the 100 Breaststroke record by over a second and a half. James Quadlin won the 200 Individual Medley vs Wheeler, and was second vs Boone Grove. Otto Wildhart won both the 50 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke. Marco Serna won diving with a score of 191.05. Chaise Adrian won both the 100 Butterfly and 500 Freestyle. Diver Andrew Hayes took the night off of the board, and besides being the anchor to the record setting medley relay, won the 100 Freestyle with a solid swim. LaPorte won the 200 Freestyle Relay with: Vijay Pillai, Andrew Hayes, James Quadlin, and Chaise Adrian. The Slicers finished out the meet with a win in the 400 Freestyle Relay with: Otto Wildhart, Chaise Adrian, Roman Garay, and Abbas Hakim. A BIG Slicer shoutout to Freshman diver Dylan Kalsow, who was third in diving, and missed second place to teammate Landon Corbett by 0.05 points. Corbett had 146.30 points and Kalsow had 146.35 points. The Slicers finish their regular season 17-3, and begin their two week taper heading into Sectionals at Valpo. On a fun note, today was the last day of morning weights as we head into taper, so the boys were doing some max lifts. Otto did a 220 pound Clean, and Abbas did a 315 pound Front Squat. Always proud. Go Slicers! Coach Brahim
