The Slicers Girls Swim traveled to Hobart for the first round of the Sectional Championship meet. Our girls are positioned well heading into finals on Saturday, with 3 Relay and 5 Individual 'A' Finals appearances. LaPorte opened the meet with a 3rd place finish in the 200 Medley Relay with: Cali Hatala (backstroke), Noor Hakim (breaststroke), Megan Zolvinski (butterfly), and Lily Siford (freestyle). Their time of 1:58.87 was a season best. Noor Hakim dropped 7 seconds in the 200 Individual Medley to make the A final with a lifetime best swim. Hakim also finished 9th in the 100 Breaststroke, one place out of A finals, with a season best time. Isabel Barron finished 7th in both the 50 Freestyle and 100 Butterfly, making A finals in both. Megan Zolvinski finished 8th in the 100 Fly for an A finals appearance. Zolvinski also finished 11th in the 50 Free. Lily Siford had a lifetime best time in the 100 Free, going 58.26 seconds, to make the A final. Siford missed the A final in the 50 Free by one spot, finishing 9th. The 200 Freestyle Relay of: Lily Siford, Katelyn Peterson, Megan Zolvinski, and Isabel Barron finished 3rd in prelims, setting them up for a nice finals finish. Finally, the 400 Freestyle Relay of Barron, Peterson, Hatala, and Hakimi finished 4th with a season best time. Making 'B' Consolation Finals were: Katelyn Peterson, who finished 10th in the 200 Free and 9th in the 100 Free. Cali Hatala, who finished 10th in the 200 IM and 13th in the 100 Back. Lyla Bannwart, who finished 15th in the 100 Fly. Regan Hughes, who finished 12th in both the 500 Free and 100 Back. Liz Luna, who finished 16th in the 500 Freestyle, dropping a whopping 20 seconds. Sarah Peterson, finished as first alternate in both the 200 Free and 500 Free. I want to congratulate all of our girls for a great season. Hold your heads up and be proud of all of your hard work, dedication and accomplishments. The Coaches and I can't wait to see what our swimmers do on Saturday. Always proud. Go Slicers! Coach Brahim
