The Slicer Gymnastics Team competed in the DAC Championship today at Crown Point High School and placed 8th scoring 91.75. Valparaiso was 1st 111.55, Crown Point 2nd 110.25, Lake Central 3rd 105.05, Portage 4th 103.8, Merrillville 5th 100.375, Chesterton 6th 97.725, and Michigan City 7th 96.0. Evie Travis was 16th on vault 8.85, 10th on bars 8.5 with a season high score, 10th on beam 7.8.25, 14th on floor 8.825, and 12th all-around 34.0. Genny Witulski was 26th on vault 8.2, 29th on bars 5.55, 15th on beam with a season high score of 8.425, 28th on floor 7.55, and 21st all-around 29.725. Jules Schadt was 29th on vault 7.85, 28th on bars 5.95, 26th on beam with a season high of 7.525, 32nd on floor 6.7, and 23rd all-around 28.025. Kate Doty will join the roster for the Sectional meet next weekend at Crown Point with 14 teams from northwest Indiana. The girls started on beam and were a bit nervous with Travis having two uncharacteristic falls. Moving on to Sectionals next Saturday the girls have a week to work on polishing their routines. This season we had a small team and battle with some illness and injuries which affected several meets, overall the girls have made great improvements. We are excited for their final meet of the season.
