Slicers Fall at Home to Portage in DAC Finale

The Boys Varsity basketball team lost its DAC finale to Portage, 79-54. La Porte trimmed a 17 point first half deficit to 7 in the third quarter before Portage made eight consecutive three pointers in the second half, The win by Portage clinched their first DAC title since 1988. The loss dropped La Porte to 14-8 (3-4 DAC) on the season. La Porte was led by Reed Raymond with 18 points, 5 rebounds. Sawyer Tonagel and Griffin Ott-Large each had 11 points for the Slicers, who knocked down 9 threes on the night. La Porte wraps up the regular season next Friday at Mishawaka Marian. The Slicers also find out their sectional opponent this Sunday evening, as the IHSAA Basketball State Tournament selection show is at 5 PM CST. La Porte plays in Sectional 3 along with Penn, South Bend Adams, South Bend Riley, Mishawaka, and the host school, Michigan City.
