Boys Track & Field Kicks Off Season at IWU HSR Qualifier

The LaPorte Boys Track and Field Team traveled to Indiana Wesleyan University to compete in the Hoosier State Relays Qualifier event on Friday and put together a solid showing to start the season. The 4x200 Relay team of Landyn Hunt, Isaiah Hurt, Ayden Hunt, and Gavin Wilson finished 2nd overall with a time of 1:36.40; The Distance Medley Relay Team of Jack Miskowicz, Ayden Hunt, Liam Lilly, and Charles Tonagel finished 3rd with a time of 10:55.41 (and places them in the top 15 times in the state after week 2); and the 4.400 relay team of Lilly, Wilson, L. Hunt, and Miskowicz won the event with a time of 3:32.46. Other notable results include Darius Hurt finishing 5th in the long jump (19' 0"), Malachi Washington finishing 4th in the shot put (48' 1"), and Isaiah Hurt finishing 9th in the 60 hurdles (9.61). After week one, the DMR and 4x400 relay teams have put themselves in prime position for a top 24 place in the state, which would make them eligible to compete in the HSR State Championships in Indianapolis on March 29th.
