Big Fifth Inning Leads Penn Junior Varsity Kingsmen Past La Porte Slicers JV

Penn Junior Varsity Kingsmen scored six runs in the fifth inning, which helped them defeat La Porte Slicers JV 10-0 on Tuesday. Penn got on the board in the first inning after a single, scored one run. A double in the second inning made the score 3-0. In the bottom of the fifth inning Penn scored 6 runs to round out the scoring. Khalen Matzke took the loss for the Slicers. Matzke went three innings, giving up three runs on two hits, striking out two and walking seven. Nate Moses came on in reliefs striking out two in one inning before Xander Daley threw the sixth. Moses also led the team in hits with two hits in two at bats in the lead off position. La Porte is next in action tomorrow, Wednesday April 2nd when they will take on Hobart in the home opener. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 pm at DeCamp Field.
