Strong Offense Leads LaPorte Varsity Softball Past John Glenn LaPorte defeated John Glenn 16-0 on Monday at Kesling Park - Softball Facility. LaPorte got on the board in the first inning after Shayla Sorg singled, scoring one run. LaPorte extended their early lead with five runs in the bottom of the second thanks to RBI singles by Audrey Kneifel, Madi Squire, Sorg, and Mia Maxel. LaPorte scored eight runs on eight hits in the bottom of the third inning. Lexi Surowiec doubled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Allie Wiencek doubled, scoring two runs, Sorg doubled, scoring one run, Maxel singled, scoring one run, Evie Travis singled, scoring one run, and Surowiec singled, scoring one run. Maxel opened the game for LaPorte. The right-handed pitcher gave up three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking one. La Porte Varsity Slicers tallied 16 hits in the game. Maxel and Sorg were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in three runs for LaPorte.
