Fourth-Inning Burst Enough To Lead Lake Central Past La Porte Varsity Slicers. Lake Central defeated La Porte Varsity Slicers 11-3 on Tuesday thanks in part to seven runs in the fourth inning. Lake Central were the first to get on the board in the first when Ryder Fernandez singled, scoring one run. La Porte Varsity Slicers took the lead, 3-1, in the top of the second thanks to three walks. Lake Central flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring seven runs on six hits to take the lead, 9-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Victor Villegas that drove in two. Josh Flores earned the win for Lake Central. The starting pitcher allowed zero hits and three runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking eight. Cody Ryden took the loss for La Porte Varsity Slicers. The righty went three innings, allowing nine runs (seven earned) on 10 hits, striking out one and walking one. Keli Hay, Braxton Maxfield, and Joey Kirk each drove in one run for La Porte Varsity Slicers. La Porte Varsity Slicers had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating 10 walks for the game. Gage Raymond, Brody White, and Keegan Ramos led the team with two free passes each. Raymond stole two bases. La Porte Varsity Slicers turned one double play in the game. Lake Central collected 16 hits in the game. Fernandez drove the middle of the lineup, leading Lake Central with three runs batted in. The infielder went 3-for-4 on the day. Lake Central's Jacob Zimmerman, the number eight hitter, led Lake Central with four hits in four at bats. Jake Figg, Drew Kosteba, and Dylan Hein each collected multiple hits for Lake Central. Lake Central turned one double play in the game. Lake Central didn't commit a single error in the field. Luke Halfeldt had the most chances in the field with eight.
