Big Second Inning Leads La Porte Slicers JV Past Plymouth Junior Varsity Pilgrims

La Porte Slicers JV scored eight runs in the second inning, which helped them defeat Plymouth Junior Varsity Pilgrims 13-3 on Saturday. Nate Moses drew a walk, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, Khalen Matzke drew a walk, scoring one run, Wes Kaiser singled, scoring one run, a wild pitch scored one run, and Nolan Wilson drew a walk, scoring one run. La Porte Slicers JV got on the board in the top of the first inning after Kaiser walked, and Xander Daley grounded out, each scoring two runs. Jon Rinkel earned the win for La Porte Slicers JV. The hurler surrendered three hits and three runs (two earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking four. Daley threw two innings of shutout ball for La Porte Slicers JV in relief. The pitcher surrendered two hits, striking out three and walking two. Eli Combs, Kaiser, Rinkel, and Moses each collected one hit for La Porte Slicers JV. James Morgan led the team with two runs batted in. Matzke paced La Porte Slicers JV with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting 10 walks for the game. The Slicers are next in action Tuesday, April 29th when they will head to Michigan City to take on the Wolves. First pitch is slated for 4:30 pm.
