La Porte Varsity Slicers Firing On All Cylinders Against Michigan City La Porte Varsity Slicers won big over Michigan City 18-2 on Tuesday. La Porte Varsity Slicers got on the board in the top of the first inning after Cody Benedict doubled to right field, CT Rusboldt walked, Joey Kirk tripled to right field, Michigan City committed an error, and Braxton Maxfield grounded into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run. La Porte Varsity Slicers added to their early lead in the top of the second inning when an error scored two runs, Bryce McShane grounded out, scoring one run, and Brody White singled, scoring one run. La Porte Varsity Slicers added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Benedict doubled to center field, and Kirk grounded out, each scoring one run. Cody Ryden earned the win for La Porte Varsity Slicers. The pitcher gave up seven hits and two runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking three. Hazel took the loss for Michigan City. The hurler went three innings, allowing 12 runs (seven earned) on nine hits, striking out one and walking four. La Porte Varsity Slicers accumulated 12 hits in the game. Gage Raymond and Rusboldt each collected three hits for La Porte Varsity Slicers. Rusboldt, White, Benedict, and Kirk each drove in two runs for La Porte Varsity Slicers. La Porte Varsity Slicers had patience at the plate, accumulating eight walks for the game. White and Benedict led the team with two free passes each. La Porte Varsity Slicers stole four bases in the game. La Porte Varsity Slicers turned two double plays in the game. Mckinney led Michigan City with three hits in three at bats from the leadoff position. Randall went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in.
