La Porte Varsity Slicers Lose To Warsaw La Porte Varsity Slicers lost to Warsaw 8-3 on Friday. La Porte Varsity Slicers got on the board in the first inning after Cody Benedict singled, scoring one run. La Porte Varsity Slicers added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Benedict grounded into a double play, and Reed Raymond singled down the right field line, each scoring one run. Warsaw tied the game in the top of the fourth thanks to a triple by Grady Nelson, and a ground out by Hunter Dippon. Warsaw flipped the game on its head in the top of the ninth, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 8-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Quinton Brock that drove in two. #7 earned the win for Warsaw. The hurler allowed one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out one and walking one. CT Rusboldt took the loss for La Porte Varsity Slicers. The right-handed pitcher went four innings, surrendering five runs on six hits, striking out three and walking one. Joey Kirk started on the mound for La Porte Varsity Slicers. The starting pitcher gave up four hits and three runs over five innings, striking out two and walking three. Reed Nelson led things off on the hill for Warsaw. The pitcher allowed seven hits and three runs over five innings, striking out two and walking none. Benedict and Raymond were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for La Porte Varsity Slicers. Raymond and Keegan Ramos each collected two hits for La Porte Varsity Slicers. La Porte Varsity Slicers turned two double plays in the game. Warsaw tallied 10 hits in the game. Nelson drove the middle of the lineup, leading Warsaw with four runs batted in.
