Varsity vs 21st Century Charter School - Gary (28 - 12) Win For the Slicers first ever win in Girls Flag Football you were able to see a great team effort. The defense gave up two scores early but adjusted and was suffocating with nearly every defender racking up a pass deflection. On defense all Slicers were able to contribute and were in great positions to frustrate the opposing team. Kyria Zapala had 5 tackles with one tackle for a loss and Serena Galvas turned in three tackles and a sack. Late in the second half with 21st Century moving the ball down the field to pull within a score, Abbi Burger reeled in an interception which the offense turned into a touchdown. On offense the ball was spread around to 7 receivers and 5 rushers. Topping the stat book was Serena Galvas with 165 yds rushing and 1 TD on 10 attempts. Kyria Zapala rushed for 100 yds, 2 TD and a 2 pt. conversion and add in a receiving extra point conversion. Taniya Campbell rushed for 81 yds and 1 game sealing TD! Emyah Haynes, Josie Smith and Lexi Dawsey combined at QB to throw for 110 yds, 1TD and 2 extra point conversions with no interceptions. The Slicers take on Chesterton at home at 6pm in a double header next Tuesday September 9th at Kesling Field. GO SLICERS!!
