La Porte Suffers Loss to Merrillville Freshman vs Merrillville High School (16-24) Loss Your La Porte Slicers suffer a tough loss to the Merrillville Pirates. La Porte goes up early in the 1st quarter with a 30+ yard rushing touchdown from Braden Wattson followed by a successful 2pt conversion from Jayden Profitt. Merrillville answered back and tied the score 8-8. In the 2nd quarter the Slicers found the end zone again this time with a rushing touchdown from Profitt capped off by a successful 2pt conversion from Wattson. Quinn White recovered a fumble in the 2nd quarter along with a spectacular interception from Chase Gregory. The Pirates were able to score in the 3rd and then again in the 4th quarter to go up 24-16. Your La Porte Slicers continued to fight until the final whistle and will continue to get better each week. They are 4-2 on the season and 2-2 in conference play. They will be in action again next week when they the Bulldogs come to town. Kick off is at 6 pm at Kiwanis Stadium.
