Girls Flag Football Sectional 2 @ Ames Field. THe Slicers started the tournament against Michigan City, winning 12 - 8. Lexi Dawsey tossed two touchdowns, one to Leah Williamson and one to her sister Rae Dawsey. Lexi was 12 of 18 for 135 yds and 2 TD's. Ari Northrop had 3 catches for 45 yds, Leah WIlliamson had 4 catches for 40 yds and a TD, Rae Dawsey 3 catches for 32 yds and 1 TD. THe defense was suffocating, holding Michigan City scoreless until the last minute of the game. Rae Dawsey led the way with elevan tackles and an interception. Kyria Zapala had 3 tackles and one sack, Lexi Dawsey, Serena Galvas had a pass breakup and three tackles, Riley Collette and Emyah Haynes also had three tackles. In the semi-finals the Slicers won a close one against the Crown Point Bulldogs 20 19. Kyria Zapal started the scoring with a 36 yards TD run and 87 yds on the game. Lexi Dawsey ran for 100 yds and threw for 114 yds with two touchdowns. Both of Rae Dawseys' catches were for touchdowns from 9 and 28 yds. Marlee Burger caught a highly contested 2 pt conversion to put the Slicers ahead for good. On defense Serena Galvas led the charge with 3 sacks, two pass deflections and 7 total tackles. Rae Dawsey added 7 tackles anda pass breakup, Emyah Haynes had 5 tackles and Kyria Zapala had a sack and two tackles. Riley Collette and Lexi Dawsey both added a pair of tackles. In the Championship game the Slicers struggles against the New Prairie Cougars falling 44-0. The offense struggles to get much going, Lexi Dawsey threw for 30 yds and 3 interceptions and ran for 15 yds. Cienna Jordan had the longest catch of the game for 12 yds, Josie Smith had two grabs for 12 yds and Rae Dawsey hadtwo catches for 11 yds. On defense Serena Galvas had 5 pass breakups, one interception returned 35 yds and a sack. Emyah Haynes had 7 tackles, Riley Collette had two sacks and 5 tackles, and Rae Dawsey added 5 tackles. The Slicers finish their season with a 4-6-1 record.
