Warriors Drop Road Battle at Charlestown, 61–48

Scottsburg let a halftime lead slip away Thursday night at Charlestown, falling to the Pirates 61–48 in a road tilt. Game Recap The Warriors came out steady in the opening quarter but trailed 11–9 after eight minutes. Scottsburg responded with its best stretch of the night in the second period, using strong defense and efficient scoring to win the quarter 24–18 and take a 33–29 advantage into halftime. Charlestown flipped the momentum right after the break. The Pirates’ pressure and activity on the glass sparked a 20–9 third quarter that pushed CHS in front 49–42. Scottsburg battled, but Charlestown stayed in control down the stretch, closing the game with a 12–6 fourth quarter for the 61–48 final. By the Numbers Even though Scottsburg shot the ball well overall (42.6% from the field and 48.9% effective field goal percentage), Charlestown gained separation in the hustle categories. The Pirates owned a 14–4 edge in offensive rebounds, leading to a 13–6 advantage in second-chance points. Charlestown also turned Warrior miscues into 24 points off turnovers, compared to five for Scottsburg, and got to the free-throw line far more often (18 attempts to Scottsburg’s two). Scottsburg Leaders Garrett Boling led the Warriors with 16 points on 8-of-14 shooting and pulled down 11 rebounds (2 offensive, 9 defensive). Jarin Luttrell added 10 points and 3 assists. Jaxon Owens knocked down three triples and finished with 9 points in 13 minutes. Braden Cox chipped in 8 points and 5 assists, while Caiden Boswell scored 5. Charlestown Leaders Charlestown was paced by Bowman with 23 points and 9 offensive rebounds, and Parker Odle with 13. The Pirates’ balanced effort and rebounding presence proved decisive in the second half.
