Scottsburg’s girls varsity basketball team couldn’t keep pace with a hot-shooting Corydon Central squad Tuesday night, falling 68–45 at home in a game that slipped away in the second half. Quick game flow Corydon Central set the tone early, taking a 17–11 lead after one quarter and extending it to 30–22 by halftime. Scottsburg stayed within striking distance through two periods, but Corydon’s third-quarter surge—outscoring SHS 23–14—opened things up. The visitors followed with a 15–9 fourth quarter to cruise to the 23-point win. Quarter scores: Corydon Central: 17, 13, 23, 15 — 68 Scottsburg: 11, 11, 14, 9 — 45 What decided it Corydon Central’s efficiency and transition game were the biggest separators. The Panthers shot 50.9% from the field compared to Scottsburg’s 38.1%, and were especially strong inside, finishing 22-of-37 on two-pointers (59.5%). Scottsburg hit 7 threes and actually outshot Corydon from deep (38.9% to 31.3%), but the volume and finishing at the rim tilted heavily toward the visitors. Transition points told the story too: Corydon 20, Scottsburg 3. The Panthers turned defensive pressure into quick offense, and SHS struggled to get back and set its defense. Corydon also owned the paint, scoring 36 points in the lane to Scottsburg’s 14. Scottsburg didn’t help itself with ball security issues. The Warriors committed 17 turnovers, and Corydon converted those into advantages throughout the night. Corydon finished with 11 turnovers and a clear edge in deflections (11–1), reflecting who controlled the disruptive moments. Scottsburg leaders Scottsburg was led by Georgia McNeely with 18 points, hitting 7 of 16 from the floor and knocking down 2 threes. Addison Eldridge added 11 points on 3-for-8 shooting, drilling 3 three-pointers and battling for 5 defensive boards. K.K. Grogan chipped in 8 points on an efficient 4-of-7 night to go with 2 rebounds and 2 assists. Other scoring for SHS came from Sofie Riley (3) and Brooklyn Moon (3), with several players contributing minutes in the rotation as Scottsburg looked for a spark through the middle quarters. Corydon Central standouts Corydon Central had two big-time performers. Paisley Teeter poured in a game-high 29 points, including 5 three-pointers, and consistently created scoring chances off both ball screens and transition. Reese Withers added 13 points while stuffing the stat sheet with 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals, helping Corydon dictate tempo. Sophia Bullet delivered a strong two-way game with 11 points, 6 rebounds, and a block, anchoring Corydon’s interior advantage.
