Warriors’ Season Ends in Sectional Championship Loss at Indian Creek

November 7 – Trafalgar, Ind. Scottsburg football’s postseason run came to an end Friday night with a 49–13 loss to Indian Creek in the sectional championship at Indian Creek High School. The Warriors battled throughout the night but were unable to slow an efficient Indian Creek offense that totaled 416 yards and seven touchdowns. Scottsburg finished with 249 total yards and two touchdowns. Senior quarterback Nathan Byrd led the Scottsburg offense, completing 18 of 33 passes for 214 yards and two touchdowns. Byrd connected with six different receivers, highlighted by senior Matthew Wickey, who caught four passes for 52 yards and a touchdown, and senior Landon Shuck, who added four receptions for 27 yards and a score. Senior Garrett Boling led the Warriors in receiving yards with five catches for 60 yards, while junior M. Hamilton added three catches for 51 yards. On the ground, Scottsburg was limited to 35 rushing yards as Indian Creek controlled the line of scrimmage. Shuck led the Warriors with 15 carries. Indian Creek quarterback Evan Clark delivered a standout performance, throwing for 254 yards and five touchdowns while also rushing for 75 yards and a score. Jaxon Ramey caught four passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns, while Hunter Worley was a big-play threat with 139 all-purpose yards and three total touchdowns. Defensively, Scottsburg was led by senior Garrett Boling with 10 total tackles, while junior Tyler Roberts added nine tackles. Senior Joshua Thomas recorded five tackles and three tackles for loss, and the Warriors totaled eight tackles for loss as a unit. Special teams highlights included a strong night punting by Boling, who averaged 47 yards on three punts, including a long of 66 yards. Wickey also contributed 117 all-purpose yards, including 65 yards on kickoff returns. Despite the result, the Warriors’ effort and resilience throughout the season were evident. The loss closes the chapter on the careers of Scottsburg’s seniors, who played a key role in guiding the program to another sectional championship appearance. Scottsburg finishes the season proud of its accomplishments and with a strong foundation in place moving forward.
