The Scottsburg Warriors Varsity Basketball team capped off a championship weekend by defeating North Putnam 51–31 to claim the Clay City Classic title. Scottsburg set the tone early and never let up, using balanced scoring, strong defensive pressure, and efficiency on both ends of the floor to secure the tournament championship. The Warriors jumped out to a 15–5 lead after the first quarter and extended that advantage behind strong play on both sides of the ball. Junior Braden Cox led all scorers with 14 points, providing a steady offensive presence throughout the game. Jaxon Owens followed with 10 points, knocking down key perimeter shots to help stretch the North Putnam defense. Garrett Boling and Jarin Luttrell each added 9 points, combining inside scoring with tough rebounding and defensive effort. Scottsburg’s depth continued to show as Caiden Boswell contributed 4 points, Bennett Pearcy chipped in 3, and Caleb Salas added 2 to round out the scoring. The Warriors’ defensive intensity forced turnovers and limited North Putnam to just five points in both the first and third quarters. North Putnam was led by Jayce Monnett, who scored 11 points, while Sam Wendt added 7 and Owen Query finished with 6. Despite a second-quarter push by the Cougars, Scottsburg responded with a strong third quarter to put the game away.
