Scottsburg Wrestlers Compete at Nick Shadday Memorial Invitational

The Scottsburg wrestling team competed against a strong slate of competition Saturday at the Nick Shadday Memorial Invitational, hosted by Madison Consolidated. The Warriors faced Evansville Harrison, South Dearborn, Lawrenceburg, Madison Consolidated, and Evansville Memorial in a full day of dual-meet action. Despite several open weights throughout the lineup, Scottsburg showed resilience and earned notable individual victories across the event. Against Evansville Harrison, Scottsburg dropped a 42-18 decision. Wins for the Warriors came from Beau Carter (113), Braxton Severinsen (132), Gavin Curley (150), and Luke Hamilton (157), while multiple matches were decided by forfeit. In a 48-21 loss to South Dearborn, Scottsburg picked up victories from Carter (113), James Logan Salkeld (144), Curley (150), and Hayden Wycoff (190), who closed the dual with a pin Scottsburg faced Lawrenceburg next, falling 57-17. Highlight performances included tech fall wins by Salkeld (138) and pins from Curley (150) and Wycoff (190) The Warriors then wrestled host Madison Consolidated, losing 52-18. Scottsburg earned wins from Carter (113), Lucas Wimp (120), Salkeld (138), and Wycoff (190), with Wimp picking up a solid decision and Wycoff earning a shutout victory Scottsburg closed the invitational against a deep Evansville Memorial lineup, falling 78-0. Despite the score, the Warriors gained valuable experience against one of the tournament’s strongest teams Across the invitational, Scottsburg was led by consistent performances from Beau Carter, Gavin Curley, James Logan Salkeld, and Hayden Wycoff, each recording multiple wins. The Warriors will look to build on the experience gained Saturday as they continue through the remainder of the season.
