Warriorettes Fall at Salem, 52–44

The Scottsburg Warriorettes suffered a tough road loss Thursday night, falling 52–44 to Salem in girls varsity basketball action. Scottsburg faced an early deficit as Salem jumped out to a strong first quarter. The Warriorettes continued to battle throughout the night, showing defensive effort and late-game push, but were unable to overcome the slow start and key stretches where Salem capitalized on turnovers. Scoring by Quarter Scottsburg: 6 – 10 – 13 – 15 = 44 Salem: 17 – 7 – 22 – 6 = 52 After trailing 17–6 at the end of the first quarter, the Warriorettes responded by holding Salem to seven points in the second period. A decisive third quarter swung momentum back in Salem’s favor, but Scottsburg closed strong by outscoring the Lions 15–6 in the final frame. Scottsburg finished the night shooting 34.7% from the field and 20% from three-point range. The Warriorettes held a 40–35 rebounding advantage and outscored Salem 14–8 in the paint, but turnovers and missed free throws proved costly.
