The 5th Grade Warriors put the finishing touches on a historic season Sunday, capturing the MYT Boys State Championship and completing a perfect 34-0 campaign. Entering the tournament as Scottsburg Purple, the Warriors proved all weekend that they were the team to beat — and they left no doubt. Quarterfinals: Statement Win The Warriors opened championship play against the Madison Cubs and set the tone immediately. With balanced scoring and relentless defensive pressure, they powered to a 44-32 victory, advancing to the semifinals with confidence and momentum. Semifinals: Dominant Performance In the semifinals, the Warriors faced South Oldham Dragons, who had battled through the top side of the bracket. Once again, the Warriors controlled the game on both ends of the floor. Their defensive intensity and transition offense created separation early, and they secured a convincing 44-27 win to punch their ticket to the state championship game. Championship Game: Finishing the Job In the title matchup, the Warriors squared off against Floyd Central Futures Green, a talented team that had advanced through a competitive bottom half of the bracket.
