MADISON, Ind. — History was made Monday afternoon as the Scottsburg High School boys golf team captured its first sectional championship in program history, winning the IHSAA Sectional at Sunrise Golf Course with a team score of 320. The Warriors edged a talented field that included runner-up Southwestern (323) and Jennings County (325), securing the program's first-ever sectional title and earning a spot in Thursday's regional competition at Champions Pointe. Scottsburg was led by a pair of outstanding performances from juniors Paxton Copple and Jarin Luttrell, who each fired rounds of 77. Their strong play helped set the tone for a balanced Warrior lineup that delivered all day long. The Warriors showcased impressive depth, with Jace Luttrell and Lucas Miller each carding rounds of 83, while Nick Consley added an 84. Every counting score came in at 84 or lower, a testament to the consistency that has defined the team's season. Southwestern's Braxton Lewis earned medalist honors with a tournament-best 68, but the Warriors' balanced team effort proved to be the difference as Scottsburg claimed the championship trophy. The sectional championship marks a milestone achievement for Scottsburg Golf and adds another chapter to the rich tradition of Warrior athletics. After years of building the program, the Warriors now stand alone atop the sectional field for the first time in school history. With the historic victory, Scottsburg advances to the IHSAA Regional, where the Warriors will look to continue their memorable postseason run.
