COLUMBUS, Ind. — October 24, 2026 — The Scottsburg High School boys and girls cross country programs concluded their 2026 seasons Saturday morning at the IHSAA Cross Country Regional held at CERAland Park in Columbus, Indiana. The Warriors finished 25th overall in the boys team standings with 686 points, while three Warriorettes competed as individual qualifiers in the girls race. Warriors Finish 25th at Regional Senior Kameron Reed led the Warriors with a time of 17:54.4, finishing 157th overall in the boys 5,000-meter race. Freshman Asher Horton followed closely behind, placing 167th with a time of 18:02.3. The Warriors' regional lineup featured four freshmen, providing valuable postseason experience for a young group that will look to build upon this season's accomplishments. Buckel Leads Warriorettes Sophomore Presley Buckel paced the Warriorettes with a 190th-place finish, completing the 5,000-meter course in 23:13.9. Senior Addison Eldridge finished 209th with a time of 24:09.9, while fellow senior Providence Vaughn placed 213th in 24:32.0. The three Warriorettes earned their regional appearances through their performances at last weekend's sectional at Hanover College. Saturday's race marked the final high school cross country competition for Eldridge and Vaughn, who represented the Warriorettes in their final postseason appearance. Young Warriors Gain Valuable Postseason Experience The Warriors entered Saturday's regional after earning a fifth-place team finish at the Hanover Sectional the previous weekend. Competing against some of the top cross country programs in the region, Scottsburg's young lineup gained valuable experience at one of the state's highest levels of postseason competition. With four freshmen, one sophomore, and one junior among the seven regional competitors, the Warriors have a strong foundation returning for the 2027 season. The regional also marked the conclusion of senior Kameron Reed's high school cross country career. Scottsburg Athletics congratulates all ten regional competitors and the entire cross country program on their hard work and dedication throughout the 2026 season. Special recognition goes to seniors Kameron Reed, Addison Eldridge, and Providence Vaughn for their contributions to Warrior and Warriorette cross country. Play Hard. Play Smart. Play Together.
