Scottsburg Varsity Warriors trailed by as many as four, but came back to best Columbus East Varsity Olympians on Monday, 8-4. Scottsburg Varsity Warriors didn’t take the lead until later in the game. The game was tied at four in the bottom of the sixth when an error scored four runs. Columbus East Varsity Olympians got on the board in the top of the second inning after an error scored one run, and Blake Borkhardt singled, scoring two runs. Scottsburg Varsity Warriors flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the sixth, scoring eight runs on three hits to take a 8-4 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was an error that drove in four. Tanner Best earned the win for Scottsburg Varsity Warriors. They surrendered one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out five and walking two. Jackson Watkins took the loss for Columbus East Varsity Olympians. The starting pitcher went five innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out five and walking three. Brentley Spaw led things off on the hill for Scottsburg Varsity Warriors. The right-handed pitcher allowed four hits and four runs (zero earned) over five innings, striking out eight and walking three. Brandt Kendall led the team with two runs batted in. Spaw went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Scottsburg Varsity Warriors in hits. Scottsburg Varsity Warriors had patience at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. Borkhardt provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Columbus East Varsity Olympians with two runs batted in. They went 2-for-4 on the day. Scottsburg Varsity Warriors will travel to South Central Varsity Rebels for their next game on Tuesday.
