The Scottsburg Warriors defeated the Paoli Rams 6-3 on Friday. The Warriors got on the board in the top of the second inning after Cale Barger singled, and Paoli committed an error each scoring one run. A single by Tanner Best, a single by Carter Gricius, and a ground out by Barger helped the Warriors extend thier early lead in the third. Gricius earned the win for the Warriors. The starting pitcher allowed one hit and two runs (zero earned) over three innings, striking out five and walking three. Tyler Hannon took the loss for the Paoli Rams. He went five and one-third innings, giving up six runs (four earned) on eight hits, striking out four and walking two. Garret McClellan collected the save. Best threw two innings of scoreless ball for Scottsburg in relief. The righty surrendered zero hits, striking out two and walking two. Kirkland Hughes drove the middle of the lineup, leading Paoli wiht two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Copoer Spires, Hughes, and Peyton Baker each collected one hit for Paoli. The Rams had a strong eye at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game. Spires and Hannon led the team with two free passes each. Spires and Aiden Hickman each stole multiple bases for the Rams. Paoli stole four bases in the game. The Warriors will travel to Salem on Monday for a makeup MSC game with the Lions.
