Warrior Baseball bested Trinity Lutheran Cougars 6-2 on Tuesday. Scottsburg opened the scoring in the first after Tanner Best doubled, scoring one run. The Warriors added one run in the third after Carter Gricius tripled. Drake Goodpaster walked, which helped Trinity Lutheran tie the game at two in the bottom of the fourth. Scottsburg made the score 6-2 in the top of the fifth after Best singled, scoring two runs, Tucker Doriot hit a sacrifice fly, socing one run, and Cale Barger singled, scoring one run. Braden Cox earned the win for the Warriors. The reliever gave up zero hits and zero runs over three and one-third innings, striking out seven and walking one. Peyton Pollert took the loss for Trinity Lutheran. The reliever went one inning, surrendering four runs (three earned) on four hits, striking out two and walking one. Peyton Sebastian led things off on the mound for Scottsburg. The starting pitcher gave up one hit and one run over two and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking two. Jackson Trueblood led things off on the mound for the Cougars. He gave up three hits and two runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out seven and walking two. Doriot appeared in relief for the Warriors. Best provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Scottsburg with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Best, Gricius, and Barger each collected two hits for the Warriors. Garrett McClellan stole two bases. Trueblood and Goodpaster were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Trinity. Chase Bode led Trinity with one hit in four at bats. Goodpaster led the Cougars with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing eight walks for the game. Scottsburg will travel to Brownstown Central for their next game on Thursday.
