GAME 1: The Scottsburg Warriors fell to Southwestern 1-0 in Game 1 of a doubleheader on the last play of the game. The game was tied at zero in the bottom of the seventh when Adam Traylor singled, scoring one run. Both teams were strong on the mound. Southwestern pitchers struck out seven, while Scottsburg sat down six. Jamison Lewis earned the win for the Rebels. He allowed four hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out seven and walking none. Tanner Best took the loss for Scottsburg. He went six and one-third innings, surrendering one run (zero earned) on five hits, striking out six and walking two. Brentley Spaw set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading the Warriors with two hits in three at bats. Traylor went 1-for-3 at the plate as the center fielder led the team with one run batted in. Barron Welsh went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead the Rebels in hits. Southwestern was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Tryson Warren made the most plays with 10. GAME 2: Garrett McClellan collected four hits in four at bats, as Scottsburg defeated Southwestern 21-11 in Game 2 of today's double header. McClellan singled in the second inning, singled twice in the third inning, and singled in the fourth inning. The Warriors collected 17 hits and Southwestern had seven in the high scoring affair. The Warriors got on the board in the top of the first after Carter Gricius singled, Cale Barger singled, Southwestern committed an error, and then the Rebels committed another error, each scoring one run. The Warriors added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Southwestern committed an error, Dylan Roberts singled, and Barger was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run. The Warriors scored 10 runs on eight hits in the top of the third inning. Gricius singled, scoring two runs, Roberts singled, scoring one run, Braden Cox drew a walk, scoring one run, Tucker Doriot drew a walk, scoring one run, an erro scored one run, Brentley Spaw singled, scoring one run, McClellan singled, scoring one run, and Roberts singled, scoring two runs. The Rebels scored five runs on zero hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. An error scored two runs, Austin Jenkins was struck by a pitch, driving in one run, an error scored one run, and Andrew Varble scored after tagging up. Peyton Sebastian earned the win for Scottsburg. He surrendered three hits and three runs over two innings, striking out three and walking two. Braxton Lewis took the loss for Southwestern. The starting pitcher went two innings, surrendering seven runs (five earned) on six hits, striking out two and walking one. Brandt Kendall, Cox, and Doriot each appeared in relief for the Warriors. Scottsburg collected 17 hits in the game. Gricius and Roberts were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in four runs for Scottsburg. Barger, Spaw, and Kendall each collected multiple hits for the Warriors. Jenkins went 2-for-3 at the plate as the infielder led the team with two runs batted in. Jenkins and Brady Cook each collected two hits for the Rebels. Varble led Southwestern with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing seven walks for the game. The Warriors play at home on Monday against MSC foe North Harrison in their next game.
