Tanner Best drove in five runs on three hits to lead Scottsburg past Eastern 25-1 on Thursday. Best doubled in the first scoring two, singled in the third scoring two, and hit a sacrifice fly in the second scoring one. The Warriors jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Dylan Roberts grounded out, scoring one run, and Best doubled, scoring two runs. Scottsburg scored 11 runs on eight hits in the bottom of the second inning. Peyton Sebastian singled, scoring one run, Brandt Kendall singled, scoring two runs, Garret McClellan singled, scoring two runs, Best hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Cale Barger drew a walk, scoring one run, Braden Cox singled, scoring one run, Brentley Spaw grounded out, scoring one run, a dropped third strike scored one run, and Carter Gricius singled, scoring one run. The Warriors scored 11 runs on eight hits in the bottom of the third inning. An error scored one run, Sebastian singled, scoring two runs, Ty Roberts singled, scoring two runs, Best singled, scoring two runs, Cox singled, scoring one run, Rikelme Pinto-Herrera singled, scoring two runs, and Tucker Doriat sinaled scoring one run. Spaw earned the win for the Warriors. The righty allowed zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out six and walking one. Mason Partridge took the loss for the Musketeers. Best threw one inning of shutout ball for Scottsburg in relief. The right-handed pitcher surrendered two hits, striking out two and walking none. Scottsburg collected 19 hits in the game. Best, Sebastian, and Cox each collected three hits for Scottsburg Varsity Warriors. Gricius and Kendall each collected multiple hits for the Warriors. Wyatt Crawford led Scottsburg with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying eight walks for the game. Gavin Odum and Dustin Costin were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit for the Musketeers. Next up for Scottsburg Varsity Warriors is a game at Seymour on Tuesday.
