Scottsburg Varsity Warriors Defeat New Washington Behind Strong Performance From Brandt Kendall By GameChanger Media Brandt Kendall struck out 12 batters as the hurler led Scottsburg Varsity Warriors past New Washington 7-3 on Saturday. Kendall surrendered one hit and three runs over six and one-third innings while walking four. New Washington got on the board in the top of the first inning after Kendall induced C Mertens to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, and J Mcwhorter singled, scoring two runs. Garrett McClellan singled to the left side of the infield, which helped Scottsburg Varsity Warriors tie the game at three in the bottom of the second. Scottsburg Varsity Warriors took the lead in the bottom of the third. Cason Owens singled, scoring one run, to give Scottsburg Varsity Warriors the advantage, 4-3. A Sorg took the loss for New Washington. The hurler went four innings, surrendering five runs on eight hits, striking out two and walking three. Tucker Doriot appeared in relief for Scottsburg Varsity Warriors. McClellan provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Scottsburg Varsity Warriors with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 2-for-2 on the day. McClellan and Braden Cox each collected two hits for Scottsburg Varsity Warriors. Scottsburg Varsity Warriors had a strong eye at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. Doriot and McClellan led the team with two free passes each. Cale Barger and McClellan each stole multiple bases for Scottsburg Varsity Warriors. Scottsburg Varsity Warriors stole seven bases in the game. Scottsburg Varsity Warriors turned one double play in the game. Mcwhorter and Mertens were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in one run for New Washington.
