Big Second Inning Leads Scottsburg Varsity Warriors Past Springs Valley Varsity Blackhawks By GameChanger Media Scottsburg Varsity Warriors defeated Springs Valley Varsity Blackhawks 10-0 on Saturday thanks in part to eight runs in the second inning. Paxton Copple was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Cason Owens singled, scoring one run, Ian Gricius drew a walk, scoring one run, Tucker Doriot drew a walk, scoring one run, and Cale Barger doubled, scoring two runs. Scottsburg Varsity Warriors opened the scoring in the first after Ty Roberts grounded out, scoring one run. A ground out by Gricius extended the Scottsburg Varsity Warriors lead to 10-0 in the top of the third inning. Garrett McClellan earned the win for Scottsburg Varsity Warriors. The pitcher surrendered three hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out four and walking one. Mackey Lowe took the loss for Springs Valley Varsity Blackhawks. The starting pitcher went one and two-thirds innings, giving up eight runs on five hits, striking out one and walking three. Braden Cox threw one inning of zero-run ball for Scottsburg Varsity Warriors in relief. The reliever surrendered zero hits, striking out two and walking one. Barger led Scottsburg Varsity Warriors with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The center fielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Doriot went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Scottsburg Varsity Warriors in hits. Rikelme Pinto-Herrera led Scottsburg Varsity Warriors with two walks.
