Scottsburg Girls Battle Strong Field at Invitational

The girls’ race at the Scottsburg Invitational featured a dominant performance from Southwestern (Hanover), which placed five runners in the top 12 to win the team championship with just 20 points. Southwestern sophomore Savannah Nussbaum set the tone early, crossing the line first in 20:13. Teammates Victoria Gammons (3rd, 21:25), Sophie Ford (6th, 22:38), and Mikayla Nussbaum (7th, 22:38) helped seal the victory. For Scottsburg, four athletes put in gritty efforts against a competitive field. Addison Elliott led the way for the Warriorettes, finishing 30th in 26:31. She was followed closely by Brooklyn Moon (38th, 27:37), Briley Bary (40th, 28:08), and Addison Eldridge (49th, 30:20). Behind Southwestern, Switzerland County earned runner-up honors with 54 points, while Jeffersonville (64) and West Washington (97) rounded out the top four. The Warriorettes showed strong pack running and will look to continue improving as the season moves forward.
