The Scottsburg Cross Country teams turned in strong performances at Saturday’s IHSAA Sectional hosted by Southwestern (Hanover) at Hanover College XC course, with four athletes earning advancement to next week’s Regional meet. For the Warrior boys, Kameron Reed and Gavin Curley both qualified for the IHSAA Regional after impressive runs against a talented field. Reed finished in 14th place with a time of 17:41.42, while Curley crossed the line in 23rd place at 18:41.97. Their efforts helped represent Scottsburg well in a deep and competitive sectional race that saw Madison Consolidated claim the team title. On the girls’ side, Briley Bary and Brooklyn Moon each earned individual advancement to the Regional. Bary posted a time of 25:46.41, followed closely by Moon at 25:53.02. Both Warriorettes ran with grit and composure, finishing inside the qualifying group to move on to next weekend’s championship round. Head Coach Derek Eldridge praised the team’s determination, noting that “our athletes continue to show steady improvement and compete hard when it matters most.” The IHSAA Regional will take place next Saturday, October 25, at Shelbyville's Blue River Park, where Reed, Curley, Bary, and Moon will represent Scottsburg with a chance to advance to the Semi-State meet. Congratulations to all of our runners on a great sectional performance, and best of luck to our Regional qualifiers next weekend!
