The Scottsburg Warriors came out strong in their regular season finale Friday night at Warrior Field, striking first against visiting Brownstown Central before the Braves rallied to win 34–14. Scottsburg set the tone early when senior quarterback Nathan Byrd connected with Garrett Boling on a touchdown pass in the first quarter, giving the Warriors a 7–0 lead. The Braves answered to tie the game, then used a big second quarter to pull ahead 21–7 at halftime. Scottsburg found the end zone again in the third quarter on another Byrd-to-Boling connection, but Brownstown added points in each of the final two quarters to secure the victory. Byrd led the Warrior offense with 21 completions on 37 attempts for 245 yards and two touchdowns. Boling was a force in the passing game, finishing with seven receptions for 107 yards and both scores. Ricky Pinto Herrera added three catches for 51 yards, while Matthew Wickey and Landon Shuck also contributed key receptions to keep drives alive. On the ground, Shuck paced the running attack with 44 yards on 10 carries, and Luke Hamilton added 10 yards rushing along with a 40-yard kickoff return. Defensively, the Warriors showed toughness against Brownstown’s balanced offense. Boling again led the way with 20 total tackles, while Josh Thomas, Landon Shuck, and Tyler Roberts each tallied eight stops. Up front, Josue Telles provided strength on the defensive line with five tackles and two tackles for loss, and Jaden Jimenez-Downing and Ricky Pinto Herrera added additional stops in the trenches. Tucker Doriot was perfect on extra points (2-for-2) and handled kickoff duties, while Boling averaged 31.5 yards per punt, including one inside the 20-yard line. ⸻ Scottsburg (7–2) now turns its attention to the postseason, as the Warriors open IHSAA Sectional play at home next Friday night against Edgewood. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Warrior Field. Digital ticket information will be available soon on scottsburgathletics.com.
