Lake Central Varsity Baseball put together a strong offensive performance to defeat Lowell 13–7 on the road Wednesday. After falling behind early—giving up four runs in the first inning—Lake Central settled in and chipped away before breaking the game open in the middle innings. They scored in five different innings, highlighted by a five-run fifth and a three-run seventh to create separation. Offensively, Lake Central totaled 12 hits and showed depth throughout the lineup. Several players contributed multi-hit games, and the team consistently capitalized on opportunities with runners on base, driving in 12 runs. Key extra-base hits—including a triple and multiple doubles—helped fuel big innings, while aggressive baserunning added pressure. On the mound, the game was a tale of recovery after a rough start. The opening inning was challenging, but the bullpen stabilized things effectively. The middle innings were controlled by strong relief work, particularly from the winning pitcher, who struck out six and limited Lowell’s offense. Late in the game, Lake Central pitchers managed traffic and prevented any major comeback. Overall, it was a resilient win—Lake Central overcame an early deficit with timely hitting, solid pitching adjustments, and consistent offensive pressure to secure a 13–7 victory. The Lake Central JV Blue Baseball team battled the Crown Point JV Red Bulldogs to a 4-4 tie in 8 innings on each team’s opening night. The Indians jumped out to an early lead but a big inning by the Bulldogs put LC in a deficit later in the game. In the 5th, freshman Ben Berwanger tied the game with an RBI single. Berwanger and Adrian Claussen each had 2 hits for the Indians. Mateo Kluga started on the mound for the Indians, and Josh Sautter threw 4.1 innings of scoreless relief. The Indians will take on the Valparaiso Vikings to open DAC play next Tuesday. JV White Baseball fall to CP JV White by a final score of 8-2. Details to come. JV Softball traveled to CP and won a thriller by a final socre of 5-4. Their record improves to 2-0 on the season. More details to come.
