Baseball-Girl's T/F-Softball-Volleyball Earn Wins (4/8 Update)

Varsity Baseball--Lake Central 1 Valparaiso 0 At Valparaiso, in a showdown of top 10 teams in the state, Lake Central scored its only run in the third inning. This proved to be enough due to the dynamic pitching effort of Josh Flores and Zach Nicola. The Indians moved to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the DAC. Flores made his second start of the year, squaring off against Caden Crowell. The two MLB prospects had over 20 MLB teams in attendance. Flores earned his first win of the season tossing 4 scoreless and whiffing 8 Viking hitters. Nicola tossed 3 innings of 1-hit ball in relief. This was his first appearance on the young season. The Indians managed just 4 hits on the day. Jake Figg led the way with an RBI single that drove in Victor Villegas. LC and Valparaiso will do it again today at Lake Central. The game will start at approximately 5:30. JV (Blue) Baseball--Lake Central 10 Valparaiso 7 The Lake Central Indians JV Blue defeated the Valparaiso Vikings 10-7 to open their 2025 campaign on a chilly Tuesday evening. The Indians bats got hot early, scoring 7 runs in the second inning; they never looked back. The Indians were led offensively by freshman Hunter Segal, who reached base in all 5 plate appearances; and Jacob Forystek, who provided 2 hits and 2 runs scored for the Indians. Sophomore Marc Passo got the opening day start for the Indians, lasting 3 innings. Passo struck out 3 Viking hitters while allowing only 1 hit and 1 run. Sophomore Ryan Mikolanis got the save for the Indians. LC will wrap up their conference home-and-home with Valparaiso on Wednesday evening. The Indians are 1-0. JV (White) Baseball--Valparaiso 6 Lake Central 2 Valparaiso jumped to a 6-0 lead after 3. The Indians did manage to score in the 5th and 7th, but fell 6-2. LC managed 6 hits on the day with Matt Tuftedal and Lazar Alavanja leading way with 2 hits apiece. Jaxon Glinski, Braeden Sullivan, and Connor Durkin pitched for LC. Glinski was the pitcher of record; Durkin tossed a scoreless 7th. The game today has been postponed until Thursday at Valparaiso HS. LC cruised to a 12-2 victory in a run-rule shortened 6 inning game. Alexa Iwema had 4 hits (2 2B) and scored 2 runs and drove in 4. MaKayla Van Vossen also had two hits and scored 2 runs for LC. Madi Bickell and Izzy Calinski each homered for the Indians. Lake Central is now 3-0 and 1-0 in the DAC. Maddie Such earned the win on the mound allowing just 3 hits and 2 runs on 12 punch outs. Frosh Jada Lewis pitched a scoreless 6th striking out 2. The Indians will play host to Michigan City this evening. JV Softball--Lake Central 15 La Porte 0 The Indians pounded out 12 hits, including 5 that went for extra bases as they cruised to a 15-0 road win. Piper Urbanski, Aubrey Richardson, and Ava Musch had multiple hit games for LC; Urbanski led the way with 3 hits and Musch had 2 triples. Sophia Cembala tossed a 5 inning, 1 hit shut out. She fanned 12. LC has started 3-0. Varsity Volleyball--Lake Central 3 Chesterton 1 JV Volleyball--Chesterton 2 Lake Central 0 The LC volleyball program remained undefeated in the DAC after a close match against the visiting Chesterton Trojans. LC won in 4 sets. Set 1: 25-23 Set 2: 20-25 Set 3: 25-16 Set 4: 25-20 LC was led by: Danny Smith- 17 kills 12 digs, and 4 aces Leo Meseberg- 11 kills Teo Olmstead- 9 kills Brady Cook-25 assists Juan Flores-19 digs and 3 aces The boys will play in the Marian Catholic Invitational this Friday and Saturday.
