Baseball Sweeps La Porte/Softball Wins at Portage/Unified T/F Opens Up at Home

V/JV Softball @ Portage Varsity: Lake Central 17 Portage 1 JV: Lake Central 13 Portage 0 Sophia Cembala threw a no-hitter and struck out 11 to lead the JV to victory over Portage. Four Indians had a multi-hit game: Ava Richardson (2 hits/2 runs), Ava Musch (2 hits/3 runs/3 RBIs), Cali Ramirez (3 hits/2 runs/4 RBIs), and Rylie Cruz (2 hits). The Indians will travel to Andrean Saturday for a pair. The Indians varsity team moved to 9-0 overall and 4-0 in the DAC after a road win at Portage. Maddie Such was the pitcher of record tossing a run-rule shortened, complete game. Such struck out 8 Portage hitters. The Indians combined for 16 hits (6 going for extra bases). Tegan Tripp led the way homering in 2 of her 3 plate appearances; Tripp scored 3 runs and led the way with 5 RBIs. Kate Renschen (3 runs), Taylor Schafer (2 runs/4 RBIs), and Madi Wainwright (2 RBIs) all had 3 hits. MaKayla Van Vossen added a pair of singles. The Indians will host the LC Classic Saturday and take on Franklin Central in game 1 at approximately 11am. V/JV Baseball @ La Porte Varsity: Lake Central 5 La Porte 2 JV (Blue): Lake Central 15 La Porte 0 The Lake Central Indians JV Blue defeated the LaPorte Slicers 15-0 in 5 innings to move to 4-1 overall. Offensively, the Indians' were led by lead-off man Isaac Ochoa (2-3, BB, 3 R) and Jacob Forystek (2-4, 2B, 3 RBI), while Hunter Segal drove in 4 runs and Ben Balog scored 3 times. Owen Kopercinski led the way on the mound for the Indians, overpowering Slicer hitters all afternoon. Kopercinski struck out 4 Slicer hitters and only allowed 2 hits. Logan Barbush closed the game out on the mound for the Indians. In varsity action at historic Schreiber Field, Lake Central jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the 2nd and coasted to a 5-2 DAC victory; the Indians are now 4-0 in DAC play and 7-0 overall. They'll travel to Kokomo this weekend to take on Franklin Central this Saturday. Luke O'Keefe picked up another conference win on the mound tossing 5 innings and allowing 2 runs and striking out 6. Zach Nicola threw a scoreless final 2 innings in relief. He struck out 3. Keegan O'Bryan had 3 of LC's 6 hits; he also scored 2 runs. Jake Figg tripled and drove in 2. V/JV Volleyball @ Boone Grove Varsity: Boone Grove 3 Lake Central 1 JV: Boone Grove 2 Lake Central 0 LC fought a tough battle last night and lost to Boone Grove in 4 sets. Set 1: 30-32 Set 2: 25-20 Set 3: 24-26 Set 4: 27-29 LC was led by: Christian Czarnik--18 kills Brady Cook--28 assists Juan Flores--18 digs Nico Piunti--11 digs and 3 aces The Indians are back home tonight against DAC opponent Valparaiso. This is the 10th year LC has hosted the event and it features top golfers from Indiana and around the Midwest.
